Additionally, a noteworthy decline in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the notorious "bad" cholesterol) was observed among those consuming garlic products.

Interestingly, the superfood also managed to elevate levels of HDL cholesterol, ironically known as the "good" cholesterol, bolstering its profile as a heart-healthy ingredient. However, garlic's effects on triglycerides, another type of lipid closely watched by doctors, remained inconclusive.

The research uncovers the varied landscape of garlic's influences on human health, substantiating the age-old belief in its medicinal properties. While the active compounds in garlic, such as allicin and S-allyl cysteine, are thought to be the heroes behind these health benefits, questions about optimal dosages and the long-term impact on different populations remain for future investigation.

Garlic's therapeutic potential in controlling blood glucose and blood lipids is a step forward in understanding the role of natural products in chronic disease management. This systematic review and meta-analysis underscore the importance of further research to unlock the full scope of garlic’s health benefits.
